Great Workout Yesterday!

WoW! Yesterday was one freaking fun day for me.  It was a great hard workout as well as very effective.  I was doing alot of movements that will help me with my push-ups and sit ups.  One of the only things I need to work on now is getting my breathing under control when I’m running.  I keep wanting to breath in and out through my mouth, which is a big No No!  That will cause me to dehydrate faster and pass out.  If I did that in a combat zone, I’d be shot dead by enemy.

Today I worked out with SGT Cleghorn, who was with the 10th Mtn.  He’s a great guy and is fun to work out with.  He’s has a kind of high impact way to doing P.T.  This will be a good change so my body won’t get acustom to SGT Giron’s way.  I taped and weighed today and I’m currently at 317lbs. I’ve lost a total of 40 lbs working out with SGT Giron since June.  I can’t wait til I can leave for B.C.T. since I’ll be dropping probably another 40 lbs of fat while I’m there.

I can tell that since the weather is getting colder it will be harder for me to sweat like I have been.  This just means I’ll have to turn up the work outs.   Tomorrow’s work out will be interesting since I wont be able to go to the station and work out :-(.  My wife has to be at work at 0800.  I’ll have to do my own work out here at home.  So, I’m planning on doing my Ranger work out twice tomorrow and two more times on Friday.  Hopefully come Saturday, I’ll be doing great at our boot camp.  I hate missing work outs with my recruiter.  But, since Joyce, a former co-worker of mind and a current co-worker with my wife, will be out tomorrow I don’t have a choice.  Next week will be tough since Joyce will be gone all week recovering from her Lap-band surgery.  I hope that she has a speedy recovery and that the lap-band works great for her.  I hope that one day I can talk my wife into getting the surgery done, too.

About time!

Wow I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything on this since the 12th.  Well things have been going great.  I’ve been working out with my recruiter daily now since last week.  I’ve greatly improved my sit-ups.  Now I have to really work on my push-ups.  Its my own fault that I haven’t really worked on those muscles, and I need to work on them bad.  Yesterday we had the largest PT class that I’ve attended.  I believe there were about 12 people there.  We were also told that the Saturday before turkey day we’ll be going to Ft Hood to see a real Army base and to talk to the personnel stationed there.  I can’t wait for that trip.  I’m going to be smiling the entire time we are there.

Also, recruiter just finished his probabion for SGT and is offically a SGT! Grats SGT Giron HOOAH!  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it on here, he is the best Army recruiter that I’ve worked with.  I can’t wait to ship off to basic and hopefully I’ll get to see him again and tell him how I did.  I hope I’m going to be working to make my family proud.  But, I hope I’ll make my recruiter proud.  Its tough but worth it to me.

A perfect day to walk

Wow today was the best day to go for a short walk.  I took my son around for another 45 min walk and he had alot of fun.  It was getting windy, so each time it blew good he would raise his hands up and enjoy it.  It felt great outside today, even with my cold weather BDU’s on.  I’m so glad that the summer heat is fading fast and winter is starting to come.  I hope that I can get my body fat % down soon to go to MEPS.  I want out of Kohl’s so bad I can taste it.  Which helps since it keeps me motivated at working out and improving my running.  Since my running is improving I need to work on my breathing.  I tend to run either with my mouth open all the time or part of the time.  I hope that by the time I’m almost done with Army basic, I’ll have my breathing down pack.

Another Walk with Nate

Last week I took Nate out for a 2nd walk when he got sick.  I was able to take him out again today and he was doing just fine this time.  When he got sick he had a high fever of I believe 103.4º F.  For him that’s too high.  After my wife called his doctor’s office, the nurse told us to give him a bath to cool him off.  That worked great and after a few days he was back to normal with just a little sore throat.

Today we went walking and it felt great outside!  I was actually able to wear my old USMC warm-up suit.  I was so happy by this because when I tried the pants on last time they were pretty tight around my thighs.  Today when I tried them on they had plenty of room to breath.  That got me very excited and jogged some with my son today.  He looked like he was having fun going around the apartments.  We did 4 laps around before coming back in, which took about 45 minutes to complete.  Tomorrow we’ll be going for another walk, but this time about the time when my wife is leaving for work.  That way he’ll have time to cool off and alot of time to play.

I’ve been trying to work out as much as I can so I can try to go to MEPS on Tuesday to get my physical.  I hope that I can talk my recruiter into letting me go and perhaps I can get a wavier to begin the process of enlistment.  But, I guess we’ll see this weekend.

Walking with Nate

Today I took my son out for my daily walk.  He seemed to enjoy it alot.  He was very well behaved and drank almost all of the cold water I gave him before we started.  He was getting very tired it seemed for the last 10 minutes.  We were out there for a total of about one hour.  Tomorrow we’ll probably go for 45 mins.

Tape Day

Today I got taped correctly and I have 7.5% Body Fat to lose.  I should be able to lose that within the next 2 weeks.  My date to go to MEPS is 17 Oct.  I’m going to work hard at it and really try.  I’ve cut my soda habit now I need to cut the caffine out.  This should be easier since I haven’t had a soda in a week.

Family Time

Well today and tomorrow I’m off work so I can play with my son.  We’ve played about all day and he took 2 naps today.  I was very suprised since he doesn’t really take a 2nd nap at all anymore.  I’m glad that he did though.  His afternoon naps help get him ready to play with his mommy.   Its so fun staying home and playing with him.  I’m trying to play with him as much as I can so I won’t miss him as much when I leave for Army Basic.

I did a little bad and snacked a little too much today.  But, I think I kind of countered that by eating a small grilled chicken sandwhich.  I love eating those.  Especially when its a nice big grilled chicken patty.  I’m glad that the weight is still shedding off, even the people at work are telling me that I look alot smaller.  I’m glad since I have to keep working on it.  I need to go out and run either later tonight or early tomorrow.  I think that I’ll wake up early and go walk/jog around my apartments for about an hour.  This way I can get used to running and it will help get my legs smaller.  My torso is shrinking good, now I have to work on my legs. 🙂  That just means alot of knee binders and squats.  Time to get ready for a quick workout. Til next time. 😀

OMG It hurts to walk!

Wow! I haven’t felt my legs this weak in ages.  We did a log of running, push-ups, and sit ups.  I suprised myself in many ways today.  I was running harder than before, I was also finding myself scanning the roof tops for any type of activity, like if I was on patrol in Iraq.  I even caught myself running with my right hand up in a position by my chest, as if I had a M16 hanging there.  I guess this is a good sign for me.  I can’t wait til I’m getting ready to go to basic.

I know that the closer it gets the more scared I’m going to get.  I just have to keep remembering about why I’m enlisting.  I also want to be as phyically fit as many of the elite forces in the military, i.e. Rangers and Special Forces.  Today my recruiter gave me a date.  17 Oct and I have to be ready to go to MEPS by or before that day.  That is just over 3 weeks away so I can’t allow myself any junk food/drink at any time until I’m at Basic.  Then I can treat myself if I felt I did well that day.  From what I’m told, you are fed very very well at basic.  I just can’t over eat too much since I have to keep slimming down to my goal weight of 245 lbs.  I can’t wait to get that small.  I know I wont know what to think of myself being that skinny and hopefully very fit.
